Blog Writing: Plan Before You Write
This blog entry was posted on August 10, 2007.
For effective business blog marketing, spend time planning before writing. This makes for a better, more focused posting. For some, jotting down an outline with the key points is all that is required. The key is to write with the reader in mind and to deliver a posting with good value.
Blog Plan: From time to time, check back to your original planning document where you outlined the objectives of your blog. Look at your visitor traffic statistics, which postings are most read? Which postings receive the most comments? Are you achieving the results you wanted? If not, then take a good hard look at your blogging … or at your plan.
Stay focused: Try to avoid addressing a large variety of subjects in your business blog. Stay as targeted as possible. This way you will build a following of readers in your niche market.
Solve a problem: Readers are looking for solutions to a problem they have. Will your posting help them solve some issue or help do something better? As you write, remember your audience. Write about things that will help them, inform them, amuse them, inspire them, and encourage them.
Begin with the end: What do you want to accomplish? Write the ending of your posting and then you will find the rest of your story falls in place in a clear logical sequence.
Choose a catchy title: This is what gets your readers’ attention in both the RSS feeds and the search engine results. This is a great place to include your keywords.
