5 Secrets for Converting Visitors into Leads

Simply getting visitors to come to your website is not enough. The trick is to convince these people to engage with your business. You need to convert these visitors into leads and then into paying customers. If they haven’t arrived ready to buy, then you need to convince them to leave their email address so that you can continue to market to them.
Whatever the action is that you want your visitors to take, you need to design a conversion path into your website.
- Visitor: Start by clearly understanding your audience and why they are coming to your website. Visitors come searching for something. You need to understand their question or their need and then have the answer waiting for them as soon as they arrive.
- Purpose: Every page should have a purpose for its content. It should be focused on getting your visitor to take action or at least direct them further into your selling sequence. Your true goal is to get your visitor to take action and make a commitment to you.
- Action: Design your call to action that spurs your visitor to contact you or sign-up. Action buttons should be very visible and prominent to stand out and be clearly seen when a visitor first arrives and without scrolling down the page. Red is usually the best color to make your action buttons stand out.
- Incentives: Create incentives to get people to give you their contact information. By offering something of value that your targeted audience would want is very effective. This could be a report, eBook or an eCourse.
- Call-Tracking: If the primary action you want from your visitors is to make a phone call, then get a tracking phone number from Kall8 or similar service and forward this to your main number. This gives you a measure of who is coming from your website and a record of their phone numbers with the date and time of each call.

Michael,
Most web pages that I look at lack the clear path to action that is needed for conversion. Thanks for your comment.
