Is Email Marketing Right for Your Business?

About 99% of website visitors will leave without ever taking any action. They may have been interested, but will they ever return? By creating an “opt-in offer,” you can collect their contact info and have time to build relationships, and turn them into paying customers.
Email marketing is an effective targeted marketing method to people who are already interested in what you have to say. You want to give people the information they are seeking. This could be a sequential auto responder campaign, a monthly newsletter or regular emailing about sales or special deals.
The idea is that people must first sign-up to give their permission to receive your email. They are requesting information that interests them. In the very first email they must “opt-in” and agree they want to receive email from you. Each subsequent email must have a way for the receiver to “opt-out” from any future emails.
By allowing the receiver to be in control, you can create a pool of people who want to hear what you have to say. Email marketing means marketing to your own database of people who have subscribed to your email list.
Use an email collector form in a prominent location on your web page. The form should only collect minimal information. Keep it simple and request only name, email and area of interest. Be clear what they are signing up for and how often they should expect to receive emails from you.
Email Marketing Tips:
- Emails sent on Tuesdays and Wednesdays have the highest open rate. Thursday is a close third.
- Emails sent 10AM to 3PM have the highest open rate. People start their day by mass deleting emails and tend to open the others that arrive during the day.
- Emails with shorter subject lines outperform longer subject lines. Ideal is 30-40 characters or 5-8 words)
