3 Critical SEO Mistakes Guaranteed To Keep You Off The First Page
This blog entry was posted on September 6, 2010.
There are 3 common errors that people make with their websites that will destroy their possibility for good rankings. Website owners will choose the wrong keywords, have too little text on their pages or they will not get inbound link (back links) from other sites.
If you do any one of these, you will hurt your chances for good search positions on Google. If you do all 3, you will cripple your ability to be on page 1 of Google.
Wrong keyword phrases: Many people try and select phrases with high numbers of searches first and relevance second. Make relevance your first priority. If you attract someone to your website, they won’t stay if you don’t have what they are looking for.
Carefully research the phrases that your best buyer would use in searching for what you offer. Research and select the phrases that people are likely to type when they are doing a search. Buyers will tend to use more specific 3-5 word phrases. They will frequently use manufacturer names and model numbers rather than broader phrases. Create a written plan with your selected keywords, assigning phrases to specific web pages.
Too little text: Having sufficient ext on your web page is critical for organic search engine optimization. Unique, original, keyword rich content is the key to make your website search engine friendly. Use your keyword phrases in the visible body text 1-2 times, in the page headlines, in hyperlinks and in emphasized text.
Use these words to draw in your customer and convince them to purchase. These same words will be spidered and indexed by the search engines and make your website available for search.
No back linking: Getting other websites to link to your site is a large part of off page SEO. Links should be from relevant websites, blogs, directories and social media. Ideally the hyperlink text (anchor text) will include your keyword phrases. Using your keyword phrases in the anchor text tells the search engines what your web page is about.
