Business Blogging as an SEO Strategy
This blog entry was posted on May 1, 2007.
Blog marketing is a two level strategy. First, business blogging allows you to reach a group of interested readers that your website and other traditional marketing strategies won’t. Second, and the subject of this posting, blogging generates a tremendous number of back links to both your blog website and to your main company website.
Blogging is an excellent linking strategy by attracting new theme related incoming links. Adding fresh content on a daily or every other day basis adds fresh content which is rewarded by search engines with more frequent spidering and updating of search results.
Bloggers as a group are generous linkers that readily link back to source materials and providing an abundant number of natural and highly themed links. Bloggers will also create permanent links to their regularly read blogs from the home page of their blog.
A typical blog writer posts a daily or every other day entry to their business blog. Other bloggers who read these posts and find them interesting and relevant will link to the unique link of the blog posting called a permalink. This provides a valued one way link to the blog in what is called deep linking. Deep linking helps the entire blog website be elevated in importance with the search engines.
For blog marketing to be effective, the content must be fresh and interesting enough to attract readers and be good enough to get other bloggers to link to the postings. This is why blog postings are so highly valued by the search engines.
