You can use social bookmarking to gain visitor traffic. Visitors to a social bookmarking site will discover your link and come to see your site. Search engines will also discover these links and this can help your search rankings. You can develop a flow of regular readers over a period of time.

Social bookmarking is a way of saving favorite bookmarks to a public website and tagging them with keywords. Others can see your bookmarks and tags as you can see theirs. This allows people to organize, search and select bookmarks based on these tags. These can then be accessed from any web enabled computer. People search social bookmarking sites find the most popular websites dealing with almost any subject.

Social bookmarking tips.

  1. Register. First you need to find a social bookmarking site and register as a user.
  2. Add a widget. Make it easy to bookmark your site by adding plugins for Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us or similar sites. Visitors can vote for your site with a click.
  3. Participate. Find and bookmark great content from around the Internet. Gain a reputation for only promoting the best content. Be social and social bookmarking will pay off.
  4. Great content. Focus on creating content on your site that will inspire others. If your content doesn’t stand out, book marking won’t work.
  5. Occasionally bookmark. When you produce an outstanding page, it’s OK to bookmark it yourself. It should meet the standard you set for others or you will hurt your own credibility.
