Let’s suppose you want to build up a blog or website that focuses on a single phrase. How would you choose your keywords and navigation to create a focused website? Last May, Google released a new tool that they called the Wonder Wheel.

The Google Wonder Wheel creates a visual mind mapper. It retrieves relevant phrases (according to Google) and displays them in a wheel shaped display. To find the wonder wheel, do a Google search. Near the top of the page, you will see “+Show Options.”  Click on this and options will appear on the left side. Wonder Wheel will be near the bottom on the left side.

This wheel shaped tool is meant to provide more than a visual display of relevant search terms and keywords. It can be used to quickly create an SEO friendly website structure.

Let’s suppose you want to create a website or blog around the term “gift baskets.” You would search for gift baskets and then bring up the Wonder Wheel.

You now decide that your website will focus on gift baskets that will include wine. So you click on “wine gift baskets” and a new refined wheel appears. These are now relevant categories to either structure a website or blog around. These are also your keywords that you can use in planning your website. You know these phrases will be considered relevant by Google because it is Google that suggested them.

Even better, this can all be done in under a minute. This is a quick and intuitive way to create an instant website plan.
