SEO Expert Services: My Story
I am a Blogger, Business Consultant and now my business is Doug Williams SEO Services. I started my business as Doug Williams and Associates in 2002 doing only business consulting. I contracted with a local web designer to build up a website for me that would have a very professional image and one that get found well for the search term small business consulting. He assured me that he could do this. While he got busy, I began reading up on the search engine optimization process. It was fascinating.
For my new website, I wrote page after page of content and soon my site was ready for me to see. The design was great, but it was designed in frames, the code had hundreds of errors when I tried to validate it. I quickly discovered that my designer had absolutely no understanding of search engine optimization... and yet he stubbornly defended what he had done and refused to make changes.
We reached of an impasse so I paid off the designer and took back the unfinished web site. I immersed myself in everything I could find about search engine optimization. With the help of one of my tech savvy kids (actually a 25 year old married son with a family) we transformed the website into a highly optimized web site.
In 2002, SEO was quite different than it is today. Reciprocal linking was acceptable as long as you were linking to relevant websites. I registered my website in every web directory that I could find. I added page after page of optimized content.
Within six months my website was on page one of Google. Pretty soon my business consulting clients started asking for help on getting their web sites ranked well. Well that was the start of my venture into web marketing. My company grew to 15 employees. I employed highly competent graphic designers, SEO specialists, PHP programmers and web production staff.
In 2009, we began the rebranding process from Doug Williams and Associates over to Alesco Marketing. We did this because many people were confused by our name as to what we do. Alesco is taken from the Latin meaning "to grow". In 2010, the Alesco Marketing was sold to a larger firm.
I now do my SEO work as part of ITX Corp.
I still spend as much of my researching and staying on the leading edge of web marketing, search engine marketing, blog marketing and social media marketing. In early 2008 I finished my first book Biz Blog Marketing and in 2009 finished my second book on Website Marketing Mastery. Book #3, Blog Marketing Mastery was about using blogging for SEO.
Prior to becoming a consultant, I spent 26 years in management, 22 of these years in senior management positions across a wide range of industries. During this time, I defined and put in place many key business systems and improvement strategies to create profitable operations.
I have an MBA from Pepperdine University and an undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from CSU Northridge.
